Greeting from Sloughhouse, the center of that strange phenomenon the Ione Triangle! We sure had our share of
interesting (read switchy) conditions this month with some faring better then others, but no one avoided getting
caught once or twice. The most common quote on the line continues to be "I can't believe the letup is worth that
much!" Followed closely by "I went down to the sighter but still didn't believe it!" Believe it my fellow masochists,
BELIEVE IT!! Bill Mellor didn't shoot any letups on his way to a nice 1st place agg of .2604. I only shot one (.391 ouch)
taking 2nd with a.2706 followed closely in 3rd by Byron Donahue at .2744. Special mention goes to Dee Carter's new
range record .075 in match 4. Moving to the always challenging LV200 in the afternoon found Dee Carter inspired by
his bughole in the morning shooting a steady .3400 agg to garner 1st place. Close behind him in 2nd place was our
good friend from the central coast Jack Childers at .3456, with Francis Lee taking 3rd with a .3808. The LV Grand
was won by Dee Carter with a .3147, Jack Childers in 2nd at .3238, Bill Mellor taking 3rd with a .3303. Saturday after
the match we celebrated the 70 birthday of Bob Dorton with a nice BBQ feast. After dinner I had the privilege of
thanking Bob for all the efforts and work he puts into our range. Every club has that guy who always goes above &
beyond the call of duty and in our case Bob Dorton is that guy. Nothing, and I mean nothing of importance happens
at our club without Bob being at the center of it both financially and with his blood, sweat, & tears. The plaque he
received hopefully in some small way showed him what we think of him. We all love you Bob! That said Sunday
dawned with a pleasant surprise as I was presented with a nice award thanking me for my efforts as Match Director.
It's good to know your efforts are appreciated, but like I always say it doesn't happen without everyone chipping in.
HV200 was won by Bill Mellor who ran away from the field with a .3023 (Way to blow the .2 agg on your last group)
Pete Sands was 2nd at .3663, with Tom Sakai 3rd at .3738. Back to HV100 in the afternoon, where Jack Childers got
1st with a .2998 agg, followed closely in 2nd by me at .3076, Dan Lutke taking 3rd at .3282. HV Grand was won by
Jack Childers with a .3484 agg, Bill Mellor in 2nd at .3530, and Pete Sands getting 3rd with a .3587.When the smoke
cleared and the dust had settled Jack Childers won the 2 Gun Agg with a .3361, Bill Mellor 2nd with a .3417, and
Dee Carter 3rd with a .3610. Thanks to everyone for there help with the match, thanks to Candy, Mike & their helpers
for the party Saturday Remember no match next month because of the Labor Day weekend and SW Reg in Visalia.
See ya in October!
