Fort Sutter Muzzleloaders

Location: Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, 15501 Meiss Rd., Sacramento, Ca.
 
Date: Fort Sutter meets every 4th weekend of the month, Saturday is a Formal shoot, Sunday is a Primitive Shoot.
 
Time: Saturday start time of 9:00 A.M., Sunday Club meeting 8:30 A.M., primitive shoot to follow.
 
Membership and Shooting Fees: Membership is $50.00 to join and $35.00 per year renewal. Formal and Primitive shoot are $5.00 per day for members and $10.00 per day for guests.
 
Equipment: Any muzzle loading black powder rifle or pistol, shooting round ball and patch.
 
Philosophy: Participating in the Arts and Crafts of the Mountain Mans lifestyle to keep and preserve the art of black powder shooting involving men, women, and children. This is a family oriented shooting Club.

Formal Shoots: Formal rifle shoots consist of six matches shooting at bullseye targets, of 45 minute relays, shooting at 25, 50 and 100 yards. Relays are shot offhand, bench, and cross sticks. Five shoots per relay, sighters permitted. Two categories open sights only, and any metallic sight.
 
Formal Pistol: Formal pistol is shot with two 45 minutes relays, 10 shots at 25 yards, and 10 shots at 50 yards. Mandatory five shots one hand, 15 shots shooters preference.
 
Black powder Cartridge Rifles are with any iron sight
 
Formal Cartridge: Black powder Cartridge Rifle is shot with 10 shots off the bench, and 10 shots from cross sticks. All relays are shot at 100 yards.
 
Primitive Shoots: Primitive rifle shoots consist of six matches shooting at animal and various shapes targets, of 20 minute relays, shooting at 25, 50 yards. Relays are shot offhand, and cross sticks. Five shoots per relay. Two categories Flintlock and Percussion.
 
Primitive Pistol: Pistol shoots consist of two 20 minute relays, at 25 yards, 5 shots at each.
 
Smoothbore: Smoothbore Rifles are traditional with no rear sight, shot at various targets and clay birds.
 
Rules: We follow National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, (NMLRA) range and safety rules.
 
Awards: Awards are given on an annual basis for Formal and Primitive, to men, women, and juniors.

Rifle:
25yd offhand (8 ring. 6 bull)
50yd offhand (8 ring 100 yd bull)
50 yd bench (8 ring 6 bull)
100 yd bench (8 ring 100 yd bull)
50 and 100 yd cross sticks (single bull buffalo)
 
Pistol:
25 yd (timed and rapid fire target)
50 yd (50 yd slow fire pistol target)
 
Cartridge:
100 yd bench (two bull buffalo)
100 yd cross sticks (two bull buffalo)
 
  Relays are 45 minutes each

3 targets at 25 yards off hand
2 targets at 50 yards off hand
single bull buffalo off the cross sticks
 
Pistol:
2 targets at 25 yards off hand
 
Smoothbore:
25 yds 5 shots ball
25 yds 1 shot buck and ball
25 yds 1 shot bird shot
50 yds 5 shots ball
5 clay birds from thrower
 
Relays are 20 minutes each
