1. Safety- There will be a few training classes coming up. One is the CPR, First Aid and AED class. Disciplines should submit names of persons they want trained. There are openings for 24 persons in this class. The next is ATV familiarization for the Club’s new ATV. See me for requirements. Then the tractor familiarization. An introductory class will be given in approximately 3 weeks for any person wanting to use the tractor. Notice will be published at the range office where sign-ups will be taken.

2. The new AED’s have been ordered and will be delivered about June 23 rd . I found them online for $600 less than the local supplier with the medical prescription provided at no cost and a few hundred dollars worth of extra goodies. These AED’s are very simple to operate.

3. With the loss of Randy Bohannon, our maintenance person who resigned because of an upcoming move, I am forced to operate the tractor to grade the shotgun range parking lot in the next week or two. Support for a spotter is solicited although not required.

4. I will be advertising for two part time employees for the main range and the shotgun range this week. I also need a new maintenance person that can handle outdoor equipment and is not afraid to clean bathrooms. If you know someone willing to work under my direction please let me know.

5. Brass! When the board asked me to look into this, I did not expect what I would find. There are some surprising results of my looking into this subject. I have picked up brass for the last month after work hours and during work hours to see what it takes to collect brass. It is labor intensive! (I have not sold a single dollar of brass!) Some of you may have seen me on a range bent over cherry picking some of the finest brass. I have observed the rampant acquisition of brass by the public (emptying of the brass containers). I have observed and been privy to the give away of at least 100 pounds of brass by an employee, which I found to be a regular occurrence. Even a member or leader of the California Grizzlies admitted to picking up brass for self sale by admitting that he got $135 for his brass. I have seen the public range stripped of brass by club members prior to opening shooting and also by the public. I have found people whom I do not know picking up brass on club ranges. I have been approached by people asking to glean for reload material only after observation to find that they were collecting everything. Brass has become a valuable commodity and the public is aware of this. The Folsom Shooting Club is losing thousands of dollars in income to brass theft and giveaways. It should and will be stopped immediately.

6. Cash Registers. They are dinosaurs. A battery has gone bad in the register at the shotgun range and a replacement battery is not available. When there is a power surge or temporary blackout the register must be reprogrammed. I spent no less than 2 hours researching the net to find a battery. They are so outdated that even a business machine company could not locate them for me. They checked the web (which I had already done) and they called the company who suggested we contact their service representative who will charge us an arm and a leg to come out from San Jose to replace a battery or sell us a new register. These registers likely cost the club less than $300 per register. I highly recommend the replacement of the registers.

7. Powder limit. After speaking with Sergeant Judd Holiday, supervisor of the bomb squad for Sacramento County, it was found that our permit to sell powder must be renewed annually. The permit expired in December of 2007. This permit will be posted in the powder keg with a renewal date of December 1 st of each year and with instructions for renewing. We have been selling powder without a permit since January 1 st of this year. Sgt Judd said he will not pop an inspection on us as long as I get the permit renewed in the next week. The limit on powder is 100 lbs of smokeless and 20 lbs of black powder. This is contingent on what the Sacramento Metro fire department inspector is comfortable with. I may be able to convince the fire department to authorize 300-400 lbs. A fire department inspection is required for renewal of the permit. He also requested that we remove the term "for reloading" from the sales form and submit a copy to him with the completed renewal request.

8. I have set up an appointment for bids on our pager and camera systems for Friday. These require immediate attention for the public ranges because the speakers are failing. I will effort 2 more bids on the systems in the following week.

9. We need bathrooms at the cove, at cowboy town and at action pistol. This would relieve us of $7500 in annual charges for porta-potties. In the same trenches for sewage we should run electrical that will handle up to 600 amps and audio and video for those ranges
